About Us

Orlando Judo was established in 1987 by Dale Thompson Sensei & Yoko Thompson Sensei.

Thompson Sensei has been practicing Judo since 1955. He trained in Japan for seven years. He is a certified USJF instructor and coach. He has earned the rank of Rokudan (6th degree).

The club was established to teach Judo to the Central Florida region. We have a diverse group of students and instructors. Thompson sensei continues to direct the dojo and leads the staff to ensure that each of the students learn the gentle way.

In Memoriam

In Loving Memory of Sensei Thomas Dale Thompson:

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Judo instructor, Sensei Thomas Dale Thompson, on March 1st 2026.

For many years, Sensei Thompson was more than a teacher—he was a mentor, a role model, and a guiding light in our dojo. Through dedication to the principles of Judo—respect, discipline, humility, and perseverance—Sensei shaped not only skilled judokas but strong, compassionate individuals.

His legacy will live on in every bow, every throw, and every lesson carried forward by the students whose lives were touched both on and off the mat.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Sensei’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

May we honor Sensei’s memory by continuing to train with the spirit and integrity he instilled in us.
